School Gardens

Cooking with Kids collaborates with school gardens to deepen children’s understanding about where food comes from. This year, we are fortunate to have an Americorps volunteer who is part of a Youth Food Cadre hosted by Earth Care, a Santa Fe non-profit organization.

Amy Galanter not only teaches Cooking with Kids cooking classes at Amy Biehl Community School, but she has been charged with leading the development of a 2800 square foot school garden. Cooking with Kids is actively supporting this garden, including the purchase of 120 cubic yards of organic compost.

In Amy’s words, “The garden at Amy Biehl is an amazing way to connect families to schools, and to connect intergenerationally.” Watch the garden grow on our website!
